In traditional Aaiyyanist practise, the student first learns the base order Yantra (order 0 or order 1). To move onto higher forms of Yantra, the student must first master the previous order. So for example, if a student wishes to learn the second order Yantra, they must master the first order. If a student wishes to learn a 4th order yantra, they must master the first, second and third order yantras. Remember, English is not our first language and you will be taking resources and volunteers away from their duties and responsibilities to other members by messaging us for higher order Yantras if you have not even mastered the lower order ones first. So, if you are a student who wishes to learn higher order Yantras - please read this article.
So, how does one demonstrate that the student has mastered the Yantra form. In traditional temple settings the student would draw the Yantra out on canvas, paper or the ground (depending on the School), while the Guru, Teachers and High Aaiyyanis would observe. In many Schools this would be performed with a black or grey covering over the eyes (i.e as a blindfold). The student will then draw the yantra three times in succession on three parts of the ground or three pieces of paper, canvas etc. depending on the School. This is the bare minimum standard of what is required. Testing how spiritually aligned you are to the energy of the Yantra you are connected to is a more drawn out process and involves interviews with your Guru or High Aaiyyani instructors to see if you are fully attuned, before moving onto the next higher order Yantra form. This is partly to protect the student, as if you cannot master the order 1 forms first then learning higher orders can be detrimental. It is also a method to prevent saturating people with higher Order forms for which they are not yet ready.
Please note: If you have memorised the yantra and are very attuned to its energy, then inscribing the yantra using a blindfold should be natural. You should be able to draw the yantra with your eyes closed. As mentioned, most Yantra examinations from all Schools will have a variation of a format, where the student draws the yantra 3 times by heart with their eyes closed or blindfolded. You must be attuned to the order 1 Yantra forms to move onto the order 2 form. In other words you must have memorised the order 1 forms and be resonantly attuned to them. If you can draw the order 1 yantras with your eyes closed then you will be ready for order 2 which will increase the resonant energy exponentially. If you are not attuned to order 1 there is no point in trying to link with order 2 Yantras. It will be a waste of time and effort - e.g. it would be like trying to play a concert with an instrument, where you have not practised. Or perform surgery with no training. In other words it could do nothing, misfire or sometimes harm (depending on the yantra).
To learn the order 3 form you must master the order 2 forms. To learn the order 4 forms you must master the order 3 form. For example, there is a few members who can draw the 5th order Natuvuyan Tala Loka but have yet to be able to draw it blindfolded. The have demonstrated that they can draw the 4th order blindfolded and have shown it several times in privately streamed sittings with the High Aaiyyanis and on one occasion with the Guru himself. Also it must be stated that it is usually forbidden to give higher Yantras to those that cannot demonstrate basic mastery over the previous orders. The position of the glyphs must be accurate and must be more accurate the higher the order of the Yantra. This is a general rule.
To protect the privacy of our members we will not share your Yantra video with anyone except the Guru or the High Aaiyyani that is examining you.
Here are some basic tips in drawing Yantras. We shall link to a video of the Guru drawing a Yantra to show the timings and how it should be executed at the end of this page.
The next stage of a students development is to produce a video of you drawing the yantra (in charcoal, or paint) onto a canvas or paper stuck to a wall. The camera should be placed some distance to capture you and the yantra. To be fully attuned you must draw the Yantra blindfolded (in examinations it is usually a dark black cloth placed over the eyes). It is fine to use a pen but charcoal or paint (using a brush) is the preferred method. It must be fluent in the method, ie one stroke per glyph. Also please position the camera further back so that we can see you as a whole. Also draw the yantra 3 times blindfolded in succession. This is the minimum standard. A private youtube video is also good, as sending us a large mp4 file will bounce from our servers.
If you are unwilling to produce a Yantra for the Guru and High Aaiyyanis to view (for any reason), but you still wish for a high order yantra, then we can create some on canvas for you. This will be available on our Etsy site: see here for levels 2,3 and here for levels 3,4. We have kept them at cost price, so just the cost of the canvas and materials and the time of the High Aaiyyani. Higher order yantras are more expensive as they need to be larger, need more paint and materials and take longer to create. This will be created by a High Aaiyyani or the Guru himself. We are relunctant to show higher orders to those that are not ready to inscribe them, but a Higher order Yantra on canvas can give you the same power as it has been created by a High Aaiyyanist. If an adept tried to create a Higher order themselves without demonstrating the attunement, then negative things may happen to them and there could be ill or no effects of trying to link with a higher order without the resonance with lower orders. This can sometimes break existing resonances with lower orders if you attempt a higher order and get it wrong. However, a high order yantra on canvas will be very resonant and totally linked to the dimensional space or entity as it will have been created by a High Aaiyyani with many decades of experience. This is true for Aaiyyan Stones also, anyone can create them but the power or the inscription and prayers on the stone stem from the High Aaiyyani that has created them.
Yantra drawing or inscribing is usually never shown on video, as it is a sacred act. But the admins of the AWF have uploaded a video here showing how the Guru inscribes some simple but bespoke Yantras. This is to show you roughly how to inscribe Yantras and the order of inscription of glyphs from different Schools or perspectives. The order and the speed is sometimes a personal choice, but the position of the glyphs must be accurate. Remember though, for your yantra examination you must place the yantra on a wall and have the camera face you and the yantra.
Video on 'How to inscribe Yantras'
Here is a transcript of the video: The creation of Yantras is a sacred act, so is not usually filmed. But for training purposes we will show you how the Guru inscribes Yantras. The Yantras we will show are bespoke Yantras for certain conditions. In other words, if a specific person has a personal issue with something that affects them only. For example, if someone wishes to find love with a specific person, then we can draw Yantras that links them directly to the other person, using both aspects of their personal Yantras to link. Or if someone wishes for their personal business to flourish, in a specific location during a specified time-frame, that too can be created via unique Yantras.
So we will show you the Yantras the Guru created for a specific individual with a range of issues. We will not discuss the individual or issues for privacy purposes. The Guru will usually create the Yantras on paper first, and place the glyphs in the correct position, and then do a more formal rendering on canvas, wood or on stone. But the purpose of this video is to show the speed of creation and the direction of flow.
Many orthodox Aaiyyanists create Yantras from left to right and top to bottom, but many masters such as the Guru create Yantras from the centre out. It is a personal issue on how you create Yantras, so we will leave it up to your Aaiyyanist judgement on how you proceed. Remember, you have been creating these Yantras for many lifetimes, so you need to do what is most comfortable with you. Also, the speed at which we perform the yantras is our own. If you wish to do it faster, or slower, or do each stroke at a pace with more pauses in between, that is fine. The act itself should be meditative, and an act of sacred ritual.
